TM AUTUMN SHOW CRITIQUE DOGS

Thank you to the Tibetan Mastiff Club for the invitation to judge their club show at a new venue. I found the building light and airy with plenty of room in the shared building and excellent flooring for the dogs, so no slip-ups there then.Exhibitors appeared to enjoy the day as much as I did. Presentation was excellent, my hands, without using wipes, were as clean at the end as when I started. Depth in quality appears better in bitches whilst overall soundness appears better than when I last judged over 5 years ago. Mouths on the whole were good. On the down side some of therear movement could have been a little less close. I do understand this is a slow maturing breed and this showed up in my BOB who at almost 10 years old could still power round the Birmingham City BIS ring on her lap of honour. At the other end of the scale my RBD & BPIS was only 7 months showing a maturity beyond his years, on the day he deserved his placing.
VD/B (3. 1a) 1 Cawthorne. Khukli Soma-Lo at Bheara. At first sight this 9 yr b/t bitch is not the most striking of exhibits, her spectacles are smudged, there is grey on her muzzle, a white spot on the chest & her feet are possibly not as compact as one would wish. But oh boy is she good! Proportions are correct, head is balanced, her mouth shows large strong canines with the correct bite, dark eyes, strong neck, straight back, deep chest, balanced angulation, well carried tail and the musculature to provide reach & drive. BB BIS 2 Cawthorne. Khukli Bzanba Kang-Riy and Bheara. A year younger this b/t has clear markings including pencil marks on the toes, her head is definitely feminine with dark eyes whilst ears flap on the move. A strong neck flows into a well held topline, her front is straight, there is good length of ribbing, less than medium angulation, has better feet than 1 but carries her tail down
.PD (5.2) 1 Cawthorne. Bheara Dom. 7 mth b/t with good strength to head with broad muzzle & skull, all of balanced length, strong neck, deep in body, well sprung ribs, best topline in class, well boned with medium angulation, strong mover on compact feet. RBD BPIS. 2 Charlick. Bheara Rolmo b/t litter brother to 1 with good head strength, ears to grow into, good bone & matching body, good topline, hindquarters show potential muscle mass, he moves out well with well carried tail. 3 Bellis. Fallenoak Beneath The Waves.
YD (4.1) Rogers. Bheara Wangdak. Fair strength to this b/t with white spot on forechest with good head shape, broad skull, well set & carried ears, strong expression, good neck, deep broad chest well sprung ribs, firm broad loin, medium angulation, compact feet, well carried tail on moving. 2 Bux-Jones. Darchen Jetsan. Medium strength b/t with large white patch on forechest. Good dark eyes, head in proportion to body which is a little long, well sprung ribs, harsh coat, displays forereach but rear movement a little stilted & when relaxed front legs are a little close standing. Movement not so good in next class. 3 Hughes. Darchen Jampo
.PGD (6.3) East. Chymera Kalos. Alert expression on this b/t with dark oval eyes, well set & carried ears with strong head & neck defined wither into proportionate body with deep chest, breadth of ribbing, balanced angulation & movement but lacks the forereach I would like to see. BD BOS. 2 Parry. Fallenoak Arcane Magic. Gold with medium strength head broad in skull, muzzle a little cutaway in flew, strong earset level with eyes, strong neck, developed forechest, deep chest of right breadth, broad thighs on good tight feet, unfortunately let down by uncoordinated rear movement. 3 Darchen Jetsan.
LD (5.3) 1 Hughes. Carramia Mystical Milo. A nice profile to this b/t with alert expression, well set & carried ears, well bodied of right depth & breadth, straight back, medium angulation but tends to stand a little close in front. Handler worked hard to move him & he is true on tight feet. 2 Khan. Chortens Bhalu Khan Bahadur. Good size & strength, well coated & marked but could carry a little less weight. Strong in neck & shoulders broad in body, good thighs, moved out well and one of the few retaining feathering between toes.
OD (4.1) 1 Gardiner. Heronsview Cool Hand Luke. Gold of good size & substance, strong in skull & well muscled all
through. Good eye shape & colour, high earset well carried, would like a little more breadth to muzzle. Strong neck & front, well boned, chest depth to elbow, good topline, medium angulation on good tight feet. Good forereach but weak in rear movement. 2 Parry. Sobarna Charlock at Fallenoak. Nicely proportioned b/t with good breadth to skull & muzzle, straight front with depth of body & matching breadth, well held topline, broad well muscled first thighs but is let down by standing slightly cow hocked & uncoordinated movement. 3 Springham. Bheara Chu Tsen.
