NAT W/P BREEDS A CH SHOW, 16/07/16 - Tibetan Mastiffs

Tibetan Mastiffs

I felt privileged to award CCs for the first time in this breed & I thank all the exhibitors for such a good entry. I found the temperaments of the dogs were excellent. There was quite a diversity of types on show with some too tall & square with others lacking in height spoiling the overall balance. There were a few exhibits that were hardly recognisable as Tibetan Mastiffs. I was pleased, however, to find many quality examples of the breed.

PD (4,2a) 1 Maule’s Goliath The Marvel, 7 months b/t. Balanced head with good width to skull & muzzle. Good mouth & dentition. Dark oval eyes with dark rims. Medium sized ears set well. Good lay of shoulders with strong boned forelegs. Sufficient depth to chest with well sprung ribs. Straight back. Moderate angulation to hindquarters. High set well feathered tail. Moved well once settled; 2 Linley’s Woolinoze Jumping Jack, 6½ months. Heavy woolly coat which hopefully will clear as he matures. Head of balanced proportions but would like a little more definition to stop. Dark eyes. Well set ears. Good lay of shoulders. Wide in front with good depth to chest. Sufficient angulation to hindquarters. Preferred the topline of 1. Moved OK. JD (1) Withheld. PGD (5,4) 1 Asquith’s Art Z Hradeckeho Doliku of Baarnayotms, 2 years b/t. Good proportions to masculine head with defined stop & occiput. Dark eyes but rims not as tight as would like showing a little haw. Well set ears. Good depth to chest but quite wide in front. Well angulated forequarters with slightly heavy bone to forelegs. Powerful hindquarters with moderate angulation. Moved well. LD (6,3) 1 Leak’s Madire Snow Blade, 3½ year b/t. Strong masculine head, well balanced with broad skull & square muzzle in correct proportions. Dark expressive eyes, clean with tight black rims. Medium sized ears in balance with head. Well muscled neck. Well laid shoulders with sufficient bone to forelegs. Back straight & strong with broad muscular loins. Good depth to chest & brisket. Moderate rear angulation. Well set tail. Moved with power; 2 Bainbridge’s Bheara Kya Wo Kera Herjay, 3½ years dark grey/tan. Good balance to masculine head. Medium sized eyes with close fitting rims. Well set ears. Muscular forequarters with good depth to chest. Sufficient rear angulation. Carrying a little too much weight & topline not as good as 1; 3 Art Z Hradeckeho Doliku of B. OD (4,2) 1 Gardiner’s Ch Sierras L L Cool Jay at Heronsview, 2 years b/t. Balanced proportions to strong masculine head. Broad skull with defined occiput & good stop. Muzzle broad & blunt.
